WOODYS SPORTS EDUCATION

Woody's Sports Academy (WSA) provide high quality Physical Education (PE) lessons for primary schools throughout the community. Our coaches can deliver all of the PE curriculum across Key Stage 1 & 2 and the Early Years Foundation Stage. Our lessons can provide the time for teachers PPA (Planning, Preperation and Assessment) time, co-ordinator release time and any other cover that should be needed.

CURRICULUM PE

Curriculum PE provides children with sporting activities and exercises that enable students to extend their skill base and knowledge by exploring the various sports on offer. Through high quality delivery with guided learning techniques, our staff with their professional approach create a comfortable learning environment to bring out the best in students; helping them gain a better skill base, growing their confidence and becoming far more competent.

WSA like to work closely with our schools and we feel by gaining objectives set out by class teachers through their lesson plans, can help achieve those all important goals. Our staff provide regular individual assessments half-termly to help assist class teachers with student reports.

The main curriculum activities that we cover are the following but not limited to:

WSA run multi-sports clubs which are for children who show an interest in lots of different sports. The sessions aim to give children a good enough insight into a particular sport, gain key skills to make them more competent when playing it and to expose children to sports they may not normally get the opportunity to explore.

These fun sessions run up to one hour and twenty minutes, between 3pm and 5pm depending on the time the school finishes, or if the session runs as a morning club times are between 7.30am and 9pm. They are usually for girls/boys of all abilities in school years 2-6 and allow children to learn, express and enjoy themselves, in a fun and safe environment.

We look to change the sports delivered on a regular basis and cover around 6-12 different sports throughout the year. We look to choose sports which compliment the time of the year that we are facing. For example during the summer term we could look at covering sports like athletics and cricket whereas during the winter, sports like hockey and basketball work well.

It is very important to bring the correct clothing/footwear, in order to enjoy the session to it's full potential. Please see our check list below but note that it has been devised taking into consideration changes in weather and the use of different parts of the facility.
